There was another enlightening conversation I had in the sauna the other day. Among the few favorite topics, we men like to talk about, today it included fear. We did touch on pyramids, tower of babel, Native American religion, mammoths, and accomplishing nonnegotiable tasks. It all had the backbone and related to fear strangely. I wonder what the babes talk about in the saunas.
My presence may have steered the conversation towards fear a bit as I was listening to a bit of Laird Hamilton interviews earlier that day and week. This is also the first time I’ve talked to Jacob, who’s built like a pure stud with his dedication to the gym and masculinity. While on the topic of building pyramids some guy made a point that the builders maybe weren’t taught or knew about limitations. They didn’t fear the project in some sense. Then Jacob brought up a scene from Apocalypto where the Native Americans in this particular tribe didn’t have the concept of fear in their society. I personally believe that our parents and teachers taught us fear.
Fear is just a state of heightened sense of awareness. We are using more of our brain and body in this state, and it is very draining the less you are conditioned. Fear is related to respect. Being scared isn’t really the same as fear. Part of being feared – means you have power. Part of being scared – means you don’t have power. Fearing someone doesn’t really mean you are scared of them. It means you know the inconvenient side of them, and you would like to avoid that predicament if possible. It’s very logical. Going back to the Greek times, fear was one of the phenomena that was released when Pandora opened the box in curiosity. The forbidden tree in the Garden of Eden also triggered the events of fear being released onto man and woman for their sins. God made them fear so the manifestation of he, could maintain power. Karma uses fear as a signature on the insurance contract. If everyone simply didn’t have fear of doing bad deeds would the system of Karma break back into natural chaos. No one maintains power in a state of chaos for a long period of time.
