Someone out there is making money off of pixelated poop NFTs through Oceansea.io. The project is called “Literal Pieces of Shit“, and I love the idea and hate it. Fuck you and congratulations. After doing my own NFT with some Hypersonic VIP Club songs and promo art, and I quickly realized how truly expensive it is to sell an NFT. The miner fee as of September 6th, 2021 were fluctuating from 280 USD to 200 USD over night to list the items for sale. To turn a quick profit I would have to sell one of my songs as an NFT for at least 290 USD! There are ways I can make money with a lower sale price in theory. I can get a commission for every time it gets traded. I would be playing the long game at that point.

Notice that 3.7 ETH have already been traded as of September 6th 2021.

There’s a place and time for NFTs and the current hype level of these Meme NFTs hopefully dies soon before too many people are bag holding pixelated shit pics. I guess the max is going to be 100 people. 100 suckers or mad geniuses with some cash to blow. You must have some balls to buy a pixelated shit pic and turn it into a profit. I applaud you for saying fuck it and sending it. True Hypersonic VIP Club philosophy.

I’m getting reminded of my youth playing those MMORPGs like Runescape and World of Warcraft. Time was truly money, you can grind your butt off in those games and get your cool pieces of armor. So is holding onto your shit pic going to accumulate you wealth? What if someone comes out with a better collection of pixelated shit pics?

Going back to the whole MMORPG thought, you can get banned. Poof! All your hard work is gone. It is a centralized ecosystem where someone has control of your assets. They can hyperinflate the commonality of once rare items by changing some values in the database. That is one advantage of these pixelated shit pics. You own it. No one person in theory can ban you from holding onto virtual bag of shit.

At the time of writing this and posting. I needed to grab some screenshots and the miner fee is over 700 USD!

Crazy

Long story short, I don’t see much value in pixelated poop. Music, sports, hobbies and entertainment NFTs makes sense to me. However if the miner fee was lower I can see value in owning selling some pixelated poop. The current startup fee for running an NFT collection is pretty high right now. As my friend Raph says he likes it when cryptos are lower since NFT traders prefer lower transaction fees.
